 |
The
Tsunami that devastated the coastal areas of the Indian Ocean on
December 26, 2005 left the mighty challenge of rehabilitation and
reconstruction in its wake. Since the day after the deadly wave
struck the shores of Tamil Nadu State in India, SOS Children’s
Villages of India, Chatnath Homes, has been working to aid
hundreds of homeless, sick, and traumatized.

In the six months that have passed since the disaster, the SOS
response has developed from one administering immediate aid,
to identifying livelihood redevelopment within temporary
settlements, to reconstructing a permanent new community.
With the support of its funders and the greater SOS network,
Chatnath Homes has identified Pudukuppam Village in
Nagapattinum District for total redevelopment. |
